7th Pay Commission Pay Scale Salary for Pay Band 80000 Pay Matrix
Under government of India, there are different pay bands under which different pay scales can be found. In general there are five total pay bands under which several ranks and designations can be considered. Starting with the lowest pay band, PB-1S, the pay scale gets increased with higher ranks and position. The Pay Band – 80000 is higher than PB – 4 and the rank is called Apex Scale or Apex Rank. The rank and the salary of the Apex Scale is same for all the departments. The posts have different names but the service experience and pay scale is same for all the leading departments.
Pay Band – 80000: Apex Scale – Posts
Apex Scale officers are the higher rank officers in Central or State government. Be it IAS or IPS or Railways or Income Tax department, the posts are all similar. The department wise posts are as follows:

Apex Scale – Job Profile & Experience
- Apex Scale is one of the higher posts in any government department. To become an Apex Scale officer one has to complete minimum of 30 years of service in the same department without any faults.
- In case of Education department the Director has to be doctorate in any of the subjects and also has to serve in educational department for at least 30 years. Same with other departments as well while appointing the Apex Scale officer.
Apex Scale – City type wise Salary
The salary of the Apex Scale officers is same and fixed at Rs, 80000/- per month without any grade pay. The allowances and perks are there but unlike other pay bands the salary does not change over time. Depending on different city types under the government rules the Apex Scale officers draw their salaries. City type wise salary of the Apex Scale is as follows:

Apex Scale – Salary after 7th Pay Commission
After 7th pay commission report, published in July 2016, the salary of Apex Scale officers has been increased to Rs. 2, 25, 000/- (fixed) from Rs. 80, 000/- (fixed). The other allowances and perks have revised as per the reports.
